sal cropped photoPodiatry also known as Chiropody is the area of medicine concerned with the treatment of the foot, ankle and lower limb.

Healthy feet are a vital part of our well being – allowing us to be active and independent.  Despite knowing this many people suffer foot problems, and most of the population never visit a podiatrist regularly – maybe this is because they cannot access a service or do not know where to go for help.

Now, you will not need to walk any further as Sally will be available for appointments within the practice surroundings that you know and trust.

Why not book in for a foot health check?

It is our practice philosophy to promote foot health at all times. Therefore we recommend regular check-ups that will keep your feet fit and help to prevent problems and costly treatment in the future. Although in the first instance you  might need emergency relief from pain/symptoms for example caused by;

  • Sports or work activity Injury/trauma
  • Squeezing your feet into those ‘oh so pretty shoes’
  • Trainers that should have been thrown out a very long time ago
  • That nasty skin/nail infection that just will not go away

By providing a wide range of podiatry/chiropody services we can help you back to having healthy feet, enabling you to be more mobile, exercise more and promote a sense of well being.

Available foot care services:

  • General chiropody
    • Skin and nail conditions
    • Disorders including fungal, trauma, verrucae, corns. Hard skin/callous
    • Skin cancer assessment
    • Early detection of skin cancer is paramount to reducing serious consequences. Cancerous lesions found on the lower extremity may have a very different appearance       from those arising on the rest of the body – the podiatrists knowledge and clinical training can be critical to the early detection of both benign and malignant skin tumours.
  •  Biomechanical assessment
    • Heel, mid and forefoot pain can be caused by the way that you walk (gait) which can lead to symptoms in other connecting joints. Exercises and external devices such as  prefabricated orthotics and footwear support can improve foot function and relieve pain. Soft tissue mobilisation.
    • An intervention treatment for an injury, designed to increase the circulation and the  flexibility of the soft tissue muscles in the lower leg, foot and ankle which is very beneficial to acute and chronic trauma.
  • Ingrown toe nails
  • Arthritic conditions (Rheumatoid and Osteo)
  • Nail Resin Reconstruction
    •  It can be very distressing to patients if their nails have been damaged from surgery, trauma or fungal.
    • LCN Wilde Pedique system offers a solution so that you can show those toes off.
    • The finished rebuilt nail is non porous, light, flexible and durable, has excellent adhesion and contains the anti-mycotic agent Piroctone Olamine to help resolve this painful condition.
    • Surgery under local anaesthesia.
    • Advice to help manage the symptoms of arthritic conditions in the foot and ankle.
  • Diabetic foot assessments
    • Problems commonly develop in people with diabetes and can quickly become serious, even leading to amputation of the foot or leg. Regular vascular/neuropathic/skin reviews are recommended by published  government guidelines.

Good foot health in the diabetic patients is critical because:

    • Complications  with the nervous system – diabetics may not be able to feel their feet properly which means that cuts and sores can go unnoticed.
    • Damage to blood vessels and the immune system from diabetes can make it difficult for wounds to heal and they may become infected.
    • Poor blood flow means that antibiotics cannot easily get to the site of the infection and serious complications can result.

Keep looking after your feet and make sure they take you where you want to go!

Fees:

Consultations – £50.00
